Karina Hawkridge

I have run my own business since 1987 specialising in Equine physiotherapy, rehabilitation and re schooling as well as producing competition horses and ponies and teaching riding to private clients and pony club members. I have a particular interest in horse and rider biomechanics, balance and symmetry and how these affect the performance of both the horse and rider.

I studied with the College of Animal Physiotherapy from where I was awarded my Diploma in Animal physiotherapy. I am a full member of the International Association of Animal Therapists (IAAT).

In 2014 I gained a technician's Diploma in Digital Infra Red Thermal Imaging.

I was awarded my Human Full Body Massage Diploma in 2016 which I gained in order to offer massage therapy to riders alongside physiotherapy for their horses. I also hold a Diploma in Human Anatomy and Physiology.

I am also a fully qualified Human and Equine Kinesio Taping specialist.

I offer a wide range of Equine physiotherapy treatments including massage/ soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release, targeted stretches and PROM exercises, therapeutic ultrasound, pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, photo therapy, electro-stimulation and Kinesio Taping.

I also hold regular lectures and seminars and I regularly attend professionally lead Equine dissection days, conferences and seminars, including teaching and coaching clinics to keep me up to date with current thinking and techniques in the field of Animal Physiotherapy and teaching.

I have ridden and competed successfully since a child in BSJA classes, team chasing, dressage competitions and showing classes including side saddle.

Since 2007 I have also run www.interdressage.com- an online dressage competition, where my competition knowledge and experience in the field of therapeutic exercises and general schooling has benefited riders and horses around the world.
